The Hollandia The wire services in late 1971 carried the news item that the wreck of the Dutch East Indiaman Hollandia had been found off the Scilly Isles, southwest of England. The discoverer, London lawyer Rex Cowan, was reported to have said that this was "one of the richest treasure ship wrecks yet found around the British isles." She sank in 1743 carrying a reported treasure in gold and silver bullion worth millions. The news item stated that the find climaxed a three-year search by Mr. Cowan and his team of four skin divers, who had found "a considerable number of highly valuable coins." For descriptions of other wrecks off the British Isles, refer to Chapter 17 in Treasure Diver's Guide. Exerpt from Treasure Diver's Guide, John S. Potter, Jr., 1972
